The Jean Ray Scholarship Fund proudly recognizes and supports Haverhill High School seniors as they take the next step beyond graduation. Through three distinct scholarships, we celebrate students who demonstrate academic commitment, Hillie pride, and perseverance. 

 Foreign Language or Education

 Jean was a passionate teacher who believed in the power of communication to connect people and open doors. This scholarship honors students who are studying education or a foreign language and who are committed to using their skills to build understanding, foster connection, and make a meaningful impact. It celebrates curiosity, dedication to learning, and the desire to use teaching and communication to make a difference inside and beyond the classroom. 

Hillie Pride & Community Service/Spirit

Jean believed deeply in giving back to the community you belong to. To be a Hillie is more than school pride,  it is a commitment to carrying those values into the broader community. This scholarship recognizes students who embody what it means to be a Hillie through service, leadership, and everyday actions that uplift, support, and strengthen both their school and the world around them.

Overcoming Adversity 

One of Jean’s greatest achievements as a teacher was her ability to connect with and support students facing challenges and adversity. This scholarship honors students who have navigated personal obstacles with resilience, reflection, and determination. It celebrates growth, perseverance, and the strength it takes to move forward with purpose and compassion.
